Couples & Marriage Counselling in Regina
Creating Connection!
Relationships are hard!
When things started, you felt connected and cared for. Over time, those feelings changed. Together we can work on restoring this connection.
You can be seen, heard and understood in your most important relationship!
When you feel stuck in the same fight
Maybe it's the same argument on repeat. Maybe it's the quiet distance of feeling more like roommates than partners. Most couples who reach out to me aren't failing. They're caught in a pattern that has taken over, and neither of them knows how to step out of it. You don't have to wait for a breaking point to get support.
Healing after an affair
Discovering or disclosing an affair can shake everything you thought you knew about your relationship. Whether you were hurt or you broke the trust, the pain is real for both of you. Together we'll slow things down, make room for the hurt, and understand what happened, so you can decide your next steps from a steadier place. My article Can a Marriage Survive an Affair? is a good place to start.
Communication and connection
Underneath most arguments is a simple question: "Are you there for me?" When that question goes unanswered, we protect ourselves by pushing harder or pulling away. I'll help you both see that cycle clearly, so you can talk about what really matters without it turning into a fight, and feel seen, heard, and understood again.
My approach: Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
I've completed the EFT Externship and EFT Core Skills training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, an approach grounded in how partners bond and attach. In EFT, your partner isn't the enemy; the negative cycle is, and we face it together. I hold an M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy, and I'm a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the CCPA.
What to expect in our first session
Our first session is 90 minutes. I'll listen to both of you, learn your story and what brought you in, and we'll set goals together. You can meet me in person at my office at 2731 13th Ave in Regina, the city I was born and raised in, or virtually from home.
Fees, benefits and my first-session guarantee
The first couples session is $225 for 90 minutes, and sessions after that are $150 per hour. Evening (after 4 PM) and Saturday sessions add $15 per hour. Because I'm a Canadian Certified Counsellor, most benefit plans cover my services, so check with your provider. If after our first session you feel I'm not the right fit, email me for a full refund of that session.
Rate change: Starting January 1, 2027, sessions will be $175 per hour, and the first 90-minute couples session will be $262. Current clients can email me at mike@pivottherapy.ca to keep booking at their current rate.
Questions couples often ask
What if my partner isn't ready to come?
My article What If My Partner Isn't Ready for Couples Counselling? has four things you can try. To keep things fair to you both, I don't see either partner individually alongside our couples work.
Will you take sides?
No. My job is to make sure you both feel heard. (More myths about marriage therapy)
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. You can choose in person or virtual when you book.
Is it too late for us?
Couples come to me at every stage, from early warning signs to the edge of separation. Reaching out is a good first step.
